Peking University Holds the Opening Ceremony of the 1st Turing Class (2016)

 

On the afternoon of October 17th, 2017, Peking University held the opening ceremony of the first Turing class at Jingyuan No.5 courtyard, marking the official launch of Peking University's computer science and technology personnel training reform.

 

Academician Qihuang Gong, Vice President of Peking University, Wen Gao, the Director of Faculty of Information and Engineering Sciences of PKU, Professor John E. Hopcroft, the IBM Professor of Engineering and Applied Mathematics in Computer Science at Cornell University and recipient of 1986 ACM A.M. Turing Award, James Foley, Member of the National Academy of Engineering and Professor of Georgia Institute of Technology, Shanghua Teng, Professor from Department of Computer Science of University of Southern California, Baining Guo, Vice President of Microsoft Research Asia and Member of the Canadian Academy of Engineering, Baoquan Chen, Dean of School of Computer Science and Technology, Shandong University, Jun Yan, Vice Minister of International Cooperation, Yi Li, Director of the Admissions Office, Wenxin Li, Bing Xie, Associate Dean of the School of Electronics Engineering and Computer Science (EECS), and the first batch of 24 Turing class students attended the event. The opening ceremony was hosted by Professor Wenxin Li.
