  • Dr. Zhengfeng Ji, University of Technology Sydney
  • Time: 2020-07-14 09:00
  • Host: PKU Turing Class Research Committee
  • Venue: Online Talk

Abstract

This talk is an introduction to quantum computing from a computer science perspective, aiming to stimulate interests among students and researchers in other fields. Quantum computing is an interdisciplinary study where ideas from computer science and quantum physics meet and collide. But do you know what the magic ingredient of quantum computing is compared to its classical counterpart? What does the landscape of quantum computer science look like now? What are the great ideas shaping this emerging field? More importantly, will you be able to understand and contribute to quantum computer science yourself? We will try to address and find answers together to all these questions in the talk.

Biography

Dr. Zhengfeng Ji is currently a Professor and Acting Director of the Centre for Quantum Software and Information, University of Technology Sydney. He received his Ph.D. from Tsinghua University in 2007 and has held positions in China, Canada, and Australia since then. His current research interests include quantum algorithm and complexity theory, quantum cryptography, and quantum programming theory.
