Abstract

Quantum error mitigation (QEM) [1,2,3,4] was proposed as an alternative method of quantum error correction, which necessitates encoding of qubits and requires a huge qubit-overhead. It is expected that QEM will be useful for suppressing errors in noisy intermediate-scale quantum (NISQ) devices. In this talk, I will summarise the recent development of QEM and its applications in near-term quantum computing.

Biography

Suguru Endo was born in Kanagawa, Japan. He received his bachelor's and master's degrees from Keio University in 2014 and 2016 and his Ph.D. degree from the University of Oxford in 2019. He has been working as a researcher in NTT secure platform laboratories since 2020. His research interests focus on hybrid quantum-classical algorithms, quantum error mitigation, and Circuit QED.
