[Repost] Cornell University President Martha E. Pollack Visits Peking University

Cornell University President Martha E. Pollack visited Peking University on Nov 19. 2019. She was accompanied by Chairman of the University Board of Trustees Robert S. Harrison, Special Counsel to President Kelly E. Cunningham and Vice Provost for International Affairs Wendy Wolford. Peking University President Hao Ping, Vice President Tian Gang, Vice President and Provost Gong Qihuang and Principal Assistant Zhang Pingwen met the visitors.

 

President Hao Ping welcomed Pollack and appreciated her visit out of busy schedules. He pointed out that Cornell University, with a long history itself, had formed fine traditions of communication and cooperation with Peking University. He hoped both universities could continue to conduct in-depth cooperation in fields of Information Science, Environment Management, Life Science and Humanities and Social Sciences in the future.

Pollack expressed her gratitude for the warm welcome and strongly agreed with the partnership ideas proposed by Hao Ping. She attached importance to the close cooperation between two universities and mentioned the examples of Turing Class, a creative cooperative program between Cornell University Professor and Turing Award Winner John Hopcroft and Center on Frontiers of Computing Studies, Peking University. Pollack looked forward to further multi-area cooperation based on abundant teaching resources of two universities.
